7th/8th Grade Field Trip to Granada
Our 7th and 8th graders visited Tio Antonio & Cafe Sonrisa this week, where they learned about inclusion, language communities, and creating opportunities. They had the opportunity to learn some Nicaraguan sign language as well as try their hands at making hammocks & macrame. After lunch students took a boat tour of the Isletas, including the Fort of San Pablo. The focus of the field trip was on geography, history and water use. A great time was had by all!
Build a Garden Bed Extravaganza!
The Build a Garden Bed Bbq was a blast! Thanks so much to all of the families and volunteers who showed up to help us construct phase 1 of our Primary School Garden project. Thanks to unseasonably cool weather and nearly 50 pairs of helping hands, we had a wonderful time and got a lot done! Stay tuned for the Garden Club’s next event.

3rd Annual Color Run Success!
The 3rd Annual Color Run was a huge success! The event raised over $3500 for our scholarship program!!! Thank you to Christina & Kyle Alty and Donna Williams for organizing such a fantastic activity that got the community active and all for a great cause! Thank you, as well, to all of the volunteers who helped to throw paint, hand out shirts, and to all of the fabulous donors who helped to make the day possible. Thanks to Máscolor for the awesome shirts, The BUS Station Bar for hosting our kickoff, and to Andrew Sliwinski for being our MC! Stay tuned for a video of the event coming soon.
Color Run – March 11, 2023
We are very excited to announce the Day School’s third annual Color Run! It will take place on Saturday, March 11th starting at 4:00 pm. Participants will receive a white shirt with a logo designed by a Day School student. We will pass by several locations around town and be covered in multi-colored powder as we run, creating a one-of-a-kind dyed shirt. This shirt will also become a school shirt for students.
There will be three distances: a 1k “fun run”, a 5k, and a 10k. The race fee is $15 per runner (530 cordobas). If your child is a scholarship student and needs financial assistance for this race, please let us know by emailing colorrun@sanjuandelsurdayschool.com. If you are interested in sponsoring a scholarship student, please also let us know. All proceeds for this event will go to the San Juan del Sur Day School scholarship fund.
For non-running members of the community, we will also need volunteers to be stationed at the designated locations in order to throw colored powder at the runners. Please send an email to colorrun@sanjuandelsurdayschool.com if you are interested in volunteering in some way for the event or have a business that would like to donate money to help cover race costs. Donations of $100 or more will have their business logo featured on the back of the shirt as a sponsor.
our child received a paper registration form at school. You can send registration money to school with your child and have him/her give it to Teacher Donna. Please include exact change and write the names of the participants, what distance they will be running, and the T-shirt sizes on the form. Registration for the community opens on Tuesday at Fight Club Gym.

Tinker’s Club: Donations Needed!
Teachers Shaun and Matt have offered to lead a lunchtime tinkering or makers club to upper school students. Shaun previously lead electronics and robotics clubs in his other schools. They’d like to begin collecting donations of materials so that they have items for the kids to work with. They are looking for material to take apart and reuse.

Halloween Extravaganza
