At San Juan del Sur Day School, we offer a truly unique experience for educators - reconnecting them the chance to fall in love with being in the classroom again.

- Our mountainside school boasts a beautiful indoor/outdoor learning environment. We believe incorporating nature into our daily lives is of paramount importance, and we take the responsibility to our planet seriously. Our students, from our youngest (2) to our oldest (16) cultivate a love of nature through their daily routines and rhythms at school – and so will you!
- We serve a thriving international community, with a student population of roughly 50% Nicaraguan and 50% international students whose families have relocated to SJDS from over 20 different countries. 35% of our student body relies on financial assistance to attend SJDSDS, making it a haven for students of all backgrounds. We believe strongly that building cross-cultural understanding in our students is a key to future success.
- Have you always wanted to learn Spanish? Maybe you speak a little, but haven’t gotten the opportunity to practice in a long time. At SJDSDS, English is our instructional language – however, we’re very committed to nurturing Nicaraguan culture, which means encouraging Spanish in conversations among our students and teachers, as well as in formal lessons.
We are dedicated to professional learning for our teachers because we believe that continuous growth and development of our educators is essential for maintaining a high standard of education. Applying is easy as 1-2-3!

Our faculty interview process involves three simple steps, taking just 2-3 weeks to arrive at a final decision.

- Led by the Leadership of SJDSDS, this preliminary interview’s goal is to learn about your interests in teaching at SJDSDS and living in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. We will also explain our recruitment process, benefits package, and answer early questions you may have.
- Led by the Assistant Head of School, an administrator, and/or current faculty member; this second interview will discuss curriculum, instruction, and classroom management. During this conversation, we are hoping to learn more about you as a working professional.
- If recommended as a finalist, you will be presented with a teaching scenario related to our school and asked to submit a short video where we can observe your teaching ability. Upon receiving these materials from you, we will schedule a final interview with the Director of SJDSDS to discuss your submission and any remaining questions. Depending on availability, the final interview may include a school visit and on-campus demonstrations.
